Nordic Games Visit

Light Everyone!

The past week has been rather crazy. We’ve spent a lot of work on defining ships and other parts of the environment. We also had a visit from two producers from our publisher Nordic Games, who came over to check in on the project. We had lengthy discussions on various aspects of the game to nail down some important points, such as the artistic direction and various gameplay design elements. We’ve had a great time and defined some very helpful ideas/concepts for the game that we’ve been experimenting with for a while now. Our relationship with Nordic is not the usual Developer-Publisher relationship, as we’re much more connected during the development – it’s rather a co-op development and not just a publishing approach. It’s a good way to combine creative development aspects with external input and experiences from other projects.

Bring on the Pirates!

For the more recent period of development, we’ve been focusing on a variety of things when it comes to defining details of factions. A lot of them are on our plate right now, but the most fun so far we’ve had with defining the High Seas style. These are the zones of the game where buccaneers live that don’t want to be ruled by any faction. They salvage technology from other factions to build whatever they feel like building – unregulated, free. They are also very messy, colorful and crazy in all aspects. This will be reflected on all things High Seas – their combat style and personality, their ships, the station exteriors (header image above) and station Interiors as well:
