In today’s post, we’ll talk a little bit about the underwater bases found scattered in the world of Aqua and how they come to be under the hands at of our staff here at Digital Arrow.
Aquanox: Deep Descent, unlike the previous game in the Aquanox lineup, will not feature gigantic bases and stations. We’re setting the game much earlier in the timeline, to a period not too long after humanity was forced to flee to the depths of the oceans. This results in smaller, more secluded, more outpost-like structures that can be more compared to wild-west towns instead of large cities.
Needless to say, this does not make it less of an effort to build the stations for the inhabitants of the world, thus we are paying a lot of attention to designing bases that are achievable with what they have and the conditions that surround them. Our approach to designing bases follows a modular approach with a lot of little elements created and then assembled as per need. This way we can closely follow various design patterns and also create bases with a lot of variety – each time something different, something unique.
Thanks to the modularity, we can be quite creative with various elements and create interesting bases that fit the terrain. Obviously, the landscape needs to be as varied as possible, since our environment heavily utilizes large terrains to explore.
The combination of the two then further bring forth the possibility for flexible and effective development, so that we can create an amazing world for you to explore!
